Case Study

From Friars to Fairs Night of Festivals Hounslow

From Friars to Fairs is an online exhibition led by Art Reach, as part of Night of Festivals programme in 2019, celebrating Hounslow’s rich heritage.

Featured at Night of Festivals in Hounslow 2019, a two-day festival that focused on celebrating freedom and democracy. The live event featured a pop-up, mobile, museum which was later converted into an online exhibition and digital document which can be explored below. The document also features interviews with the Sagar Ladies who explore their own historical journeys and first experiences of life in the UK.

The exhibition incorporates research by James Marshall, Librarian for the Archive and Local Studies Service at Hounslow Libraries. Thanks to support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, community researchers have been working with Hounslow’s Archive and Local Studies Service to reveal some of the people, places and stories that make the town tick.
