JOURNEYS Creative Europe Programme 2016-2017

The JOURNEYS European project aimed to support the integration of refugees through art on a local level in seven European cities in five different countries.

JOURNEYS events took place throughout 2017 in Rome, Budapest, Palermo and Hamburg, in addition to our festivals in Leicester, Manchester and Portsmouth.

Look Up project enabled a high profile outdoor art exhibition presenting visual art work from refugee artists on a large canvas in each city.

The Container Project supported the creation of pop-up theatre performances and the making and screening of short new moving image productions to share refugee stories.

Journeys Seminars brought artists together with refugee support groups and the wider public, to explore ideas and issues arising from the arts activity and its themes.

A series of statistics from the programme: The programme toured work to Rome and Palermo in Italy, Budapest in Hungary, Hamburg in Germany and Leicester, Manchester and Portsmouth UK. The programme visited 7 European Cities, worked with 60 partners, hosted 535 participants and 388145 audience members. The programme also worked with 50 artists and created over 65 new art works and 11 new performances plus hosted 33 seminars.
