Old West Main Mosaic Planters

ArtReach was the recipient of funds from the Red Wing Housing and Rehabilitation Authority to create public art for the Old West Main area. We contributed to the West End mural project and also facilitated the creation of mosaic planters in collaboration with the community.

Each planter features 2 different large mosaic images that reflect Red Wing history. The mosaics were designed by ArtReach staff and board members and were pieced together by over 60 individuals – from toddlers to seniors – from 2017 to 2019.

We worked with Lori Greene of Mosaic On A Stick to learn the best methods and materials for creating these types of mosaics. We are very grateful for her guidance!

ArtReach staff and board members attached the mosaics to the concrete planters in the summer of 2020 and have sealed them for use in the community. We were happy to donate them to the City of Red Wing for use in the Old West Main area.
