Lock Problems Block Clean-Up Plans

Due to unforeseen circumstances the Re/action Festival's River Soar Floating Litter Pick is cancelled.

Unfortunately, the planned Floating Litter Pick as part of this weekend’s Re/action Festival has had to be cancelled. The rest of the festival is still going ahead as planned but some emergency repairs on the North Lock at Frog Island means we can’t physically get the Canal and River Trust’s boat to the festival site.

Ticket holders have been informed of the cancellation and Stephen Munn, Interim Director at Art Reach explained more, “There are some issues on the canal routes around the city which means that we can’t deliver the sessions as planned. We’re really sorry to disappoint people but do rest assured, the rest of the festival fun will go ahead as planned across the bank holiday weekend.

There are still two days of free festival activities planned across the city from live music performances to creative workshops, roaming street theatre, giant puppets, and even musical trees for people to enjoy.

As an Arts Council England-funded organisation we’ve worked hard to keep the festival free for everyone to enjoy but that doesn’t make it any less disappointing when a cancellation occurs. Working with Leicester City Council, Curve Theatre, and De Montfort University means that we can still deliver the other 98% of the festival as planned and we’re really excited to bring the first-ever Re/action Festival to the city.”

You can see the rest of the festival plans here and be sure to join us in Leicester’s city centre for two full days of creativity for the climate!
